MythBusters (1): Get on with your life!?

There are five sickening words I hear all the time: “get on with you life“. Is that really possible? Have you ever met a person who got on with his or her life? Many times you hear these words in connection with the social errors of divorce or abortion or inciting someone to forsake God and quit church. I believe the term “get on with you life” is one of the many lies of the devil people use to deceive themselves and each other. A person cannot get on with their life because “your sin will find you out”, the Bible says in Numbers 32:23. You reap what you sow, according to Galatians 6:7. In other words, you can chose your actions, but not the consequences. They come without asking your permission. You can’t get on with your life because God holds you accountable for your every thought, idle word and each and every deed.

My Life Story – Bob Harrington – The Chaplain of Bourbon Street

Recorded live in the Landmark Baptist Temple, Cincinatti, Ohio, 1966. Preacher Bob Harrington, tells his experience of salvation. He was a sucessful business man but at a little country church he found the Lord Jesus Christ as His Savior. Bob Harrington later did a mission work on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, LA.

This message comes from 2 LP records.

I hope and pray that you enjoy this personal testimony and listen to Bob with an open heart as he tells you how he found the Lord. It is important to know the Lord. Without the Lord we would die in our sins. But in Christ we can have forgiveness and a new eternal life. That is why I turned to Jesus in 1995 and asked Him to save me. Now my heart does not condemn me anymore but I have peace in my heart because Jesus has come to dwell in there. Praise the Lord! I invite you to experience the same as you listen.

At the end of the program there is a prayer time while the old hammond organ plays and it might be a time where you seek the Lord to be saved.

Chaplain of Bourbon Street preaching at Sho-Bar Night Club on 08/24/1966

Revival at the Sho-Bar Night Club on Bourbon St. in New Orleans. Listen to Baptist preacher Bob Harrington – the Chaplain of Bourbon Street – preaching a revival meeting in that location back on 08/24/1966. The gospel is for all people and all ages. This is preaching and gospel songs that I appreciate. I rejoice in Christ that someone obeyed the call of God to go to the dark places to be a light there and invite people to receive the light of the world so they can have the light of life in them (John 8:12). It is my prayer that the word of God will reach hearts. Fell free to share this video with all those who need to hear it.

This record is respectfully dedicated To Victor H. Schiro, mayor of New Orleans, LA., who officially proclaimed Rev. Bob Harrington the chaplain of Bourbon St. in 1962.

I found this sermon on an LP record at a thrift store and now put it on youtube so the digital audience of today can get ahold of old-time preaching. I want people in this modern world to get ahold of the mind of Christ through preaching.

If you know that you are lost then think about where you will spend eternity. Maybe you feel conviction of your sin or the Holy Ghost is about to make you aware of it. Then ask Jesus to save you and trust in Him that He will do it because of what He has done on Calvary. Jesus is risen from the dead so you can have the new life now and have it forever. Have you been born again? Please let me know.

It is more important to be born again than being born this way.

The American Family Association reports that Office Depot is guaranteeing $1 million to help indoctrinate your children that they are born “gay.”

This week, Office Depot announced it is teaming up with recording artist Lady Gaga to push the homosexual agenda in public schools by encouraging our children to believe “gay” people are “Born This Way.”

To help spread the message, Office Depot and Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation have created several special, limited-edition products for back-to-school this year. Office Depot is donating 25% of the sale of each item back to the promotion of homosexuality, with a guaranteed payout of $1 million.

I just wrote an open letter to the corporate leadership at OfficeDepot to let them know that we don’t need to fund popstars messing with the minds of children in public school. Schools are for learning and not for sexual indoctrination. We need prayer and Bible in school – not sexual deviancy or popstars. America needs to become what it once used to be. In the old schoolhouse children learned that the Bible teaches man’s duty and the way to Heaven.  That saying is actually from an old school textbook.

Office Depot’s support for the “Born this way” campaign is terribly irresponsible.

There is no credible evidence that people are born gay. Homosexuality is a poor and dangerous choice, and has been proven to lead to a litany of health hazards to not only the individuals but also society as a whole. We need to expose such gay myths.

By backing this social agenda, Office Depot is deceiving our nation’s young people into accepting a lifestyle that has proven to increase their chances of becoming victims to alcohol and drug abuse, depression and even suicide. When I buy tools, wood or other hardware I want value for my money and not indirectly support a lobby that works contrary to my beliefs and principles.

Telling people that they are “born this way” does not solve man’s most basic need. We are born into this world as sinners separated from God. By taking arrogant pride in the way we were born we still remain in our lost condition. Jesus tells us that we need to be born again in the gospel of John 3:3-7. I want to tell my children that they need to be born again just as I was born again when I was 17 years old and heard the gospel preached on a Christian shortwave radio station and I knew that it exposed my sin and I asked Jesus to save me and He did. He forgave my sin and gave me a new heart. There is nothing like the new birth. Now my life is not about being born a certain way but I give credit to Christ for being born again.

I urge Office Depot to drop this campaign and leave the raising of children to their parents. At this home we believe that God created us as male and female to complete each other in the sacred covenant of marriage. I’m sorry I can’t fund any other concept. The Bible is God’s manual for the human body. I work, serve and save to fund what is good in the sight of God. Why support sin with money when we need money for so many other good causes? I believe you need to seriously rethink your corporate giving strategy. I could send you a list with 100 suggestions.

If you have questions, feel free to write back. God bless America.

ACTION ITEM: If popstars campaign for being “born this way”, can you do something to tell everybody including kids they need to be born again? Distribute gospel tracts, place gospel signs, Christian signage on your company truck, host a gospel event at your home (to show a movie like Jesus Film, 180 Movie, Overruled Movie, Light of the World e. g.)  … Be creative and realize your own idea after praying about it!
