Parental Rights: Legalize homeschooling in Germany

Germany’s educational system is turning into a socialistic forced re-education camp. In Berlin 1st graders are being taught that a family consists of a man and a man or a woman with a woman. They call it “gender mainstreaming” and they are misleading young souls and deceive them with sinful ways of life presenting them as an alternative lifestyle. That is what happens when a society no longer has a final authority – the word of God – and is left to the imagination of their evil heart (Jer. 3:16). That is why America cannot afford to become an ObamaNation for another 4 years.  With God’s help we can change to the right. That is why it is smart to consider abolishing the department of education that was just stated in 1980. American education was at its best when there were small schools in communities and textbooks based on a Christian worldview were used.

Now there is a petition out there to a particular German state where Baptists have been imprisoned because they refused to let their elementary school children participate in subversive sex education program that were anti-family, anti-marriage and anti-abstinence.

Since the days of Adolf Hitler’s education law in 1938 homeschooling has not been allowed in Germany but there exists a compulsory school attendance law in every German state. Those who homeschool in Germany have faced outrageous fines in excess of $10,000, had their homes raided by police, lost custody of their children, had their children taken from them by arrogant social workers. Children were removed from homes by social workers and put into government custody. Parents in the state of Northrhine-Westphalia have been repeatedly imprisoned for homeschooling their children. Homeschooling families have fled Germany and gone to Austria, Norway, Britain and the US. In fact, one family was granted asylum in the state of Tennessee. The states of Tennessee and Georgia released unanimous resolutions calling on Germany to respect parental rights such as the right of parents to guide the upbringing and education of their own children. But in Germany children have become a ward of the state and government control of childrearing and education is increasing through legal changes under the Merkel and Schröder administration. We must reverse this trend and stop the criminalization of traditional family in Germany. No parent should be imprisoned for homeschooling. No parent should be imprisoned for taking their children out of licentious and questionable “sex education” programs. Education is a state matter in Germany, so this petition is addressed to the governer (Ministerpräsidentin) of the state of Northrhine-Westphalia where I live and which is most notorious for repeatedly imprisoning Christian mothers and father for homeschooling or releasing their children from classes that oppose their Christian views. Please sign the petition below!

A Christian woman from Georgia commented on the German developments: “I find it really sad that the children there are subjected to that kind of teaching. I don’t understand how schools can teach against Christianity.” She wanted to be added to the list of petitioners. Please get involved now and share this news with others.

Parental Rights Under Attack In Europe

Since Europe’s culture is shaped by socialistic influences and the decline of genuine faith in God it is no wonder that basic rights such as religious freedom, freedom of conscience, right to life and parental & family rights are under attack by bloated bureaucracies.

In Salzkotten (Paderborn, North Renania, Germany) a mother has been sentenced to 43 days in jail for refusing to enroll her children in the sex education program in a local elementary school.

Such an attitude on the part of a public administration in a democratic country of the European Union and member of the Council of Europe is inadmissible and demands a common response of disaproval and solidarity towards the mentioned family.

The signing individuals and entities of this declaration want to remind the Governments and fellow citizens that:

  • Article 26.3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states: “Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.”
  • Article 2 of Protocol 1 of the European Convention on Human Rights which provides: “No person shall be denied the right to education. In the exercise of any functions which it assumes in relation to education and to teaching, the State shall respect the right of parents to ensure such education and teaching in conformity with their own religions and philosophical convictions.”
  • Article 18.4 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights states: “The States Parties to the present Covenant undertake to have respect for the liberty of parents and, when applicable, legal guardians to ensure the religious and moral education of their children in conformity with their own convictions.”
  • Article 14.3 of the Charter of the Fundamental Rights of the European Union states that “the respect to (…) as well as the right of parents to guarantee the teaching and educations of their children according to their own religious, philosophical and pedagogical convictions”.

Therefore, we request:

  1. That the Federal Republic of Germany immediately releases and compensates all parents accused, arrested or imprisoned because they wanted to educate their children according to their own convictions.
  2. That all other EU Member States respect parents’ rights under the international legislation and abrogate any rules that may stand in contradiction to those rights.
  3. That all European Institutions guarantee that both those rights and the international legislation are respected in all EU Member States.

What you just read is the text of the declaration on the recognition of the right of parents to educate their children according to their own convictions to be sent as a petition to governments and parliaments in Europe.

You may sign this petition by clicking here:  Sign Declaration Now!

Please inform all your friends and brothers and sisters in Christ to sign this declaration.

In order to protect the rights of parents in the US, please join the effort at www.parentalrights.org to see which senate or house bills you need to be in support of to pass a parental rights amendment to the US Constitution and keep the US from ratifying the anti-family and anti-faith UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Kidnapped by the government: Help Dominic Johansson come home to his parents!

“GOTLAND, Sweden, December 23, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) — A Christian home schooling family could permanently lose custody of their only child simply because they home-school. Attorneys with the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF) and the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA) are joining forces as legal advisors to the family in order to persuade the Swedish government to return the seven-year-old child to his parents.

‘Parents have the right and authority to make decisions regarding their childrens education without government interference, said ADF Legal Counsel Roger Kiska, who is based in Europe. This is about a socialist government trying to create a cookie-cutter child in its own image. Without help, the parents in these cases are really powerless since the system is so one sided.’

Swedish authorities forcibly removed Dominic Johansson from his parents, Christer and Annie Johansson, in June of last year from a plane they had boarded to move to Annies home country of India. The officials did not have a warrant nor have they charged the Johanssons with any crime. The officials seized the child because they believe home schooling is an inappropriate way to raise a child and insist the government should raise Dominic instead.”

Please click here to sign a petition demanding Dominic’s release.

What is Sweden’s status on freedom to homeschool? Click here for more information from HSLDA.

I think the bottom line is this: Christian parents should never be forced to render unto Ceasar what belongs unto God. Jesus taught the principle in Mt. 22:21: Render unto Caesar the things which are Casesar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s. Children are not a ward of the state, but are a gift from God according to Psalm 127:3. Socialist politicians have always had a problem with that notion. They have tried to nationalize children and use their innocent and impressionable minds to indoctrinate them in an antichristian worldview. This is the way that Satan deceives souls so they don’t saved once they reach the age of accountability. In contrast to that consdier 1. Timothy 3:15 where the apostle Paul reminds young Timothy that he was taught the holy scriptures from a child. These scriptures make us wise unto salvation through faith which is in Jesus Christ. We can’t start early enough  to tell children about God and teach them the Bible. So that once they reach that age where they become accountable to God they will chose Jesus Christ and call upon Him to save them.

Requesting the German Federal Government Recognize Basic Parental Rights

I want to thank the Tennessee House of Representatives for House Resolution 87 that was adopted and signed 05/26/2009. As a German who lived in Tennessee for a long time I have personally seen the positive fruit of homeschooling. Unfortunately, the Federal Republic of Germany does not allow homeschooling and persecutes those who do. The entire German family, education and social politics are dominated by the leftists and remind me of the communist regime in east Germany. For example, the German government today supports the concept of nationwide government-sponsored day-care to force women into the workplace and lure children into politically-correct indoctrination including anti-God and pro-gay/anti-family propaganda and recruiting. This is a scandal. Many families fall for this because of the high cost of living and completely overtaxed European “way of survival” (it sure ain’t a  “way of life”).

In the midst of all this I am thankful to the Tennessee House of Representatives for unanimously adopting a resolution calling upon the German government to respect basic parental rights such as the right of parents to determine the education and religious upbringing of their children. In the meantime a German family has been seeking for asylum in the state of  Tennessee because in Germany they feared losing custody of their children because they were homeschooling.

Here is the full text of the resolution. Let me encourage you to do one thing: Please send it to as many German schools, officials, politicians and friends as you know so that country can experience a rebirth of faith, family and freeedom instead of falling deeper into antichristian apostasy.

HOUSE RESOLUTION 87

By DeBerry J.

A RESOLUTION calling on the Federal Republic of Germany to recognize the rights of parents to raise their children, and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, German citizens are seeking political asylum in the State of Tennessee to escape persecution and imprisonment by the German government related to their parental rights; and

WHEREAS, members of this body recognize the importance of religious liberties and the right of parents to determine their children’s upbringing and the method in which their education should be provided; and

WHEREAS, parental choice and involvement are crucial to excellence in education; and

WHEREAS, denial of the basic right of parents to choose the manner in which their children are educated goes against the ideals of individual liberty and freedom; and

WHEREAS, home educated students in Tennessee have continually exhibited high standards of academic achievement and citizenship; and

WHEREAS, the Federal Republic of Germany infringes upon the parental rights of its citizens to direct their children’s education, using threats of imprisonment, seizure of their children, and other forms of coercion; and

WHEREAS, the federal government of the Federal Republic of Germany justifies its policy against home education on a desire to prevent the emergence of parallel societies based on separate philosophical convictions, thus denying freedom of speech, religion, association, and thought; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED  SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY, that the members of this body respectfully entreat the Federal Republic of Germany to recognize the basic, fundamental rights of parents and allow its citizens to determine the educational upbringing of their own children.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Federal Republic of Germany’s Secretariat of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, and its Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
