Abide With Me – Alma Gluck and Louise Homer

What a wonderful voice that touches the heart! Nothing is greater than those beloved old time hymns. This reminds me of my own  Christian duty to sing unto the Lord with grace in my heart.

Singer Alma Gluck ( May 11, 1884 – October 27, 1938), born to Jewish Romanian immigrants,  is the mother of actor Efrem Zimbalist, jr., who was on the TBN ministry and is known for his Bible readings and broadcasts from the Holy Land. Zimbalist is the father of Stephanie Zimbalist who was on the Remington Steele series from the 1980s.

Feel free to share with others who might love those hymns of worship!

Victory in Jesus – Palmetto State Quartet

Sing unto the Lord and worship with us!

“Victory in Jesus” is one of my favorite hymns. Never forget how at one time I sang it together with a coworker at work in a cardboard factory. And we sang it as a group of street preachers at an intersection in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Not to mention the precious memories of singing it in church. As believers we are more than conquerors and we can overcome with the blood of the Lamb and our testimony.  Jesus has gained us the victory over the enemy called death. Victory is ours in Christ. We can thank the Lord Jesus for the victory. Satan has lost the battle.

The video shows some footage from the Smoky Mountains. This is at the outlook on Clingman’s Dome. The Smoky Mountains still have that impression of the old school America that was colonized and built by people of faith. The people that first settled in this neck of the woods – places like Cades Cove – were people who wanted to live for God, without government interference and able to make their own living. They don’t come here to live like atheists, socialists, or pop culture people who are dependent on trends and fashions set by city folks who don’t know God, don’t know the Bible, and despise the life lived by those who first settled this part of America. The folks that came here started churches and experienced revival as circuit-riding preachers brought the gospel into every remote holler.

Lord Build Me a Cabin In The Corner … The Blackwood Brothers

Watch some amazing footage from the hills of the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee along Foothills Parkway. When I saw the little house set all by itself in the woods I had to think of this old gospel song by the Blackwood Brothers. I am glad that the Blackwoods still do a Variety Show with gospel songs and good old fashioned clean humor at the Smoky Mountain Opry in Sevierville, Tennessee. I enjoyed my visit of one of their shows together with my family. I recommend you see this place. But I love the scenery of those mountains. A little house in the woods in the Smoky Mountains would suit me better than a luxury suite in the city. I love to be surrounded by the beauty of God’s creation. People in rural areas should never feel bad about their roots and their surroundings. Forget all the prejudices about rural areas being “backwards”. You know being stalwart and conservative on moral issues, steadfast on spiritual issues and holding on to your Bibles, guns and old-fashioned way of life is not a sign of weakness. But is is a sign of weakness if you constantly change your views and opinions about issues, if you stand for nothing and constantly “evolve” on issues”. It is weakness when you forsake God, turn your back on establishes Christian morals, betray the faith and worldview of your forefathers and rebel against a way of life that was time-proven and successful and trade it for leftist social experiments. You know what is progress to some is transgression to others. Healthy boundaries are good. Calling good evil and evil good is part of a mixed-up, warped sin-infested culture. Well, we want no part of it. The Bible tells us to not be partakers of evil ways in Ephesians 5:7. It’s a good thing and worth gold when an individual is used to stand alone and be separated from the ways of the world. We as Christians must dare to live the anachronism of our way of life in Christ. We cannot compromise with a world of sin. It will pass away. The word of God won’t.

In The Promised Land – Bobbie Lively

I want to share with you all some gospel music from a tape I received in the 1990s from a Christian radio ministry I used to listen to on Christian shortwave radio WWCR in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Only Real Peace

True peace does not come from economic deals or political deals but from receiving the Prince of Peace – Jesus Christ – into our hearts. Peace comes from following God’s commands and principles instead of man’s pride, greed and earthly wisdom. Those who want peace must let the Bible speak to them.

In The Promised Land

A song that encourages believers to stand on the promises of God in faith.

Touch Thru Me

God works in and through us through the agency of the Holy Ghost that is within every born again believer. This happens the more we yield to God and present ourselves as a sacrifice unto Him. We become instruments of God in this world, so thru our testimony and works others will see the love of Jesus Christ displayed. God can touch others thru us. That is why we are here on earth and that is what the role of the church – the body of Christ –  is.

Enjoy these songs and feel free to share them with others.

I don’t know what happened to the radio program “Walking Thru The Promised Land” Bobbbie Lively had on WWCR back in the mid 1990s. When I lived in Germany I used to listen to Christian shortwave radio from the US and that is how I heard the gospel and receive Jesus as my Savior.
