Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. 1. Timothy 4:13

Do you know what early American Christians thought about the distribution of Christian books, Bibles and tracts?

“If religious books are not widely circulated among the masses in this country, I do not know what is going to become of us as a nation. If truth be not diffused, error will be; if God and his Word are not known and received, the devil and his works will gain the ascendancy; if the evangelical volume does not reach every hamlet, the pages of a corrupt and licentious literature will; if the power of the gospel is not felt throughout the length and breadth of the land, anarchy and misrule, degradation and misery, corruption and darkness, will reign without mitigation or end. – Daniel Webster, 1823

That’s why you ought to thank God for a ChoiceBooks stand at the gas station, a Gideons Bible in the hotel night stand or one of those gospel tracts someone stuck behind your windshield wiper. Jesus was a student of the Scriptures early in life because at age 12 he could hold conversations with the scribes and learned people in the Temple at Jerusalem (Luke 2:46,47). Timothy knew the holy scriptures from childhood years (2. Tim. 3:15). I am sure his believing mother and grandmother (2. Tim. 1:5) taught him the scriptures. Teach your child the Scriptures and to read the Bible on its own. I knew I read the gospel of Matthew when I was 9 and the scene of the crucifixion brought tears to my eyes. That left an impression for life.

Read, Carry and Share the Gospel

I joined the Pocket Testament League and have pledged to read, carry and share the gospel with people God brings in my way. That is what a teenager named Helen Cadbury and her friends started doing in the 1890s and people continue in that work until today. It is my desire to get the gospel message into people’s hands everywhere because it is so great what Jesus has done for me. I think myself happy to have found Jesus as my Savior. Maybe the Pocket Testament League is a good place for you to get started in personal evangelism. Click here to find out more:

Bibles, Books And Tapes From Your Attic

Many Christians have older Bibles, older Sunday School magazines, Christian literature and dozens of older preaching tapes in their attic. Do not even think about throwing these away. I was at a Church of God in Georgia and mentioned I had to go on several international flights and usually leave gospel tracts in the seat pockets on the plane and in Europe there are newspaper racks with free daily papers at the gate when your board your flight. As people walk buy and grab a paper I walk by and leave a gospel paper. An older brother in Christ realized the need and gave me a big bunch of “old” unused Sunday School lesson books. They had the same format as the usual airline magazin. I have left those Sunday School lesson books on probably 8 connecting flights and in newspaper racks. Preaching tapes and other gospel literature are left in public book exchange racks in Germany. People can freely take or leave books in there. I regularly run a route filling these places up with godly Christian literature.

Public Exchange Book Rack

We can use all the Christian books, Sunday School quarterlies, tapes etc. that some Christian folks have sitting in their attic! Get in touch with me if you want to donate materials.

Releasing Christian books through

You can release books that have a unique ID number and thereby track who picks it up and who reads it. Leave those books behind in public areas. See our booklist at

Gospel Tracts

Those little flyers and brochures that explain the way of salvation and present the basic facts of the New Life in Christ come in handy. Why? Because the Lord gave me a burden for lost souls and there is no greater joy than to see people get ahold of truth, walk in truth and know the Lord personally. In order to help people come to that personal knowledge of the Lord Jesus I give people a tract when I meet them. But I will also leave behind tracts in public places where people can discover them, take them home and study the word of God. Acts 17:11. You can get very creative with ways on how to place tracts. Pray about it. For example, I leave them behind in airplane seat pockets, rental car glove boxes, letters to congressmen … Here are some helpful hints:

Giving Out Gospel Literature Through

King James Bible MP3 Download

The entire King James Bible is available as an MP3 download. You might want to use that whenever you cannot read the Bible. Maybe listen to it in the car on long drives. Maybe you want to use it in some homes to simply “clear the air” since the word of God washes and sanctifies. Some of you who have a hard time going to sleep should be playing the word of God on your mp3 player so you can fall asleep with the word of God on your mind, so  it can get ahold of your mind. There are two differen versions avaiable: voice only Bible reading and dramatized Bible reading with background music.
