MythBusters (1): Get on with your life!?

There are five sickening words I hear all the time: “get on with you life“. Is that really possible? Have you ever met a person who got on with his or her life? Many times you hear these words in connection with the social errors of divorce or abortion or inciting someone to forsake God and quit church. I believe the term “get on with you life” is one of the many lies of the devil people use to deceive themselves and each other. A person cannot get on with their life because “your sin will find you out”, the Bible says in Numbers 32:23. You reap what you sow, according to Galatians 6:7. In other words, you can chose your actions, but not the consequences. They come without asking your permission. You can’t get on with your life because God holds you accountable for your every thought, idle word and each and every deed.

The serpent in the Garden suggested to Eve to get on with her life and become as gods by eating that which God has forbiden to eat. But Eve didn’t get onward. She got downward. She and Adam died spiritually. I am sure she had a lot of regrets over what she did.I am sure that later she wanted to get back to the life she used to have instead od getting on with her life. Satan always suggests to us that the grass is greener across the fence. But too often we forget that the fence was put up for our protection to keep us from falling for other people’s or Satan’s lies. Apart from God there is no way to “get on with your life” because you don’t have life in the first place. You are dead in trespasses and sins (Eph. 2:1). And you will die in your sins (Jesus in John 8). You are spiritually dead and need to come to Jesus get life. It boils down to this: If you have Jesus, you have life, if you don’t have Jesus, then you don’t have life. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. 1. John 5:12, 13. If you know in your heart, that you also are by nature spiritually dead and dead in trespasses and sins. If you have no God and no hope in your life, then why not ask Jesus to save you and forgive you all your sin. He paid the price for your sin on the cross. And Jesus rose from the dead to have victory over death and so that we also can have the new life that comes from God that is created in righteousness and true holiness. So do what Jesus first commanded people to do. Repent and then believe. Repent of your sin and believe on the name of Jesus Christ. Then God does a work of regeneration on you and you will receive His Holy Ghost to show you that you are a child of God and have made peace God and have the peace of God in your heart. You won’t have to wonder about what’s after death. You know you will be with Jesus in Heaven. You won’t have to worry about not making it to Heaven because then you go based of the righteousness of Christ and not your own. My friend: I won’t ask you to get on with your life? I ask you: Have you received the new life from Jesus Christ by being born again? See John, chapter 3.

Myth Busted: “Get on with your life”

If you have been saved by the grace of God, and someone ever tells you to “Get on with your life” you can tell them that you found life in Jesus and that you never really had life before you knew Jesus. You can never get on with your life when you are dead in your sins and try to run from God. A life that counts is one that is lived in service to Jesus Christ. He died for us on the cross, so that we may live unto Him. So to all those voice out there telling us “Get on with your life” here is my word for you: “Shut up! Got Jesus!”
