Petition: End Violence Against Christian Communities In India
I have signed the following petition from International Christian Concern in response to increasing Hind violence against Christian believers in India. Our stores today are full of goods and services made in India. Of course, I prefer buying made in the USA. I definitely do not want to buy into Christian persecution and we must ensure that the global economy does not funnel our money into the hands of radical Muslims, aggressive Hindus or tyrannical communists. I ask you to sign this petition:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi

December 13th, 2014
Dear Prime Minister Modi,
It is with the utmost urgency that we, the signers of this petition, respectfully call upon your government to take immediate and decisive action to stem the flow of abuse and violence being perpetrated against Christian communities within India.
Over the past eight months International Christian Concern (ICC) has received numerous reports of violent assaults, forceful religious conversions, and the passing of local ordinances specifically targeting Christian individuals and communities, especially in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Viewed as a whole, the reports indicate an undeniable and widespread rise in religious persecution that closely coincides with the coming to power of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in May of this year.
In Uttar Pradesh alone, local human rights organizations have recorded six hundred incidents of communal violence against religious minority individuals and communities within the first one hundred days of BJP rule. These incidents include violent assaults on Christians and attacks on church structures carried out by members of groups associated with organizations likethe Bajrang Dal and the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). Many of these members justify their actions based on the ideology of Hindutva, an ideology also shared by the BJP. In one incident on July 16th, twenty five members of the Bajrang Dal attacked a church Bible study in the village of Sahakarinagar, severely beating church members with wooden clubs and destroying the cross on top of the church before replacing it with a saffron flag.
In Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, ICC has received several reports of forceful conversions attempts. In one recent incident reported to ICC eight Christian families, under tremendous social pressure and fearing potentially fatal consequences, agreed to convert to Hinduism.
In Chhattisgarh, a VHP led campaign recently resulted in more than fifty villages passing ordinances banning all “non-Hindu religious propaganda, prayers and speeches” effectively silencing religious freedom for thousands of Indian citizens.
Mr. Modi, the signer of this petition urge you in the strongest possible terms to use every means at your disposal to immediately address this highly disturbing rise in religious persecution. A failure by your government to act swiftly in this matter will only encourage further violence and bloodshed. No citizen of India should have to fear for their life simply because of their religious identity, and the international community is eagerly awaiting any sign that your government has the desire or will to confront this pressing issue.
